go solo: how to flourish as a fractional worker

The world of work is changing faster than ever: With routine job changes, rethinking in-office time, accelerationist technologies like AI, and broader tech empowerment for all creators, a new type of entrepreneur is emerging.

When it
comes to my professional life, I'm afraid of commitment.

Up until recently, I pursued full-time jobs, one after another, but I never found a “perfect fit.” Over time, I noticed a recurring gap between what I was hired to do, where my time went, and where my energy flowed, leading me to embrace fractional work—splitting my efforts across multiple projects. Now, I’m convinced this is the future of work.

The trouble is—while the world is shifting toward fractional work, many of us still struggle to adopt the right mindset. Workers need new skills to thrive and must shift their identity from job titles to marketable skills, while employers grapple with breaking full-time roles into smaller projects and letting go of the full-time hire ideal.

In other words, it’s time for many more of us to adopt a fractional mindset at work, and maybe in life overall.
